Ben Green Wins 2011 Larry Reedy Scholarship Award

The Community Players award an annual scholarship to a graduating high school senior who is planning to further his or her education in the performing arts. This scholarship is open to students who reside or attend school in the Blackstone Valley or have at any time worked in some capacity with The Community Players.

Established in 1985 with funds donated by past-President Larry Reedy, to date we have awarded more than $30,000 to deserving students. Our 2011 scholarship winner is Ben Green, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Design (concentration in Lighting Design) at Purchase College, Conservatory of Theatre Arts in New York. A 2010 graduate of North Kingstown High School, Ben designed our productions of You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown and Brighton Beach Memoirs. He has also worked extensively with North Kingstown’s Thespian Troupe 6945, the International Thespian Festival, Northeast Theatre Festival and the RI Drama Festival and Theatre Conferences.
